New application by Kensingtons

15th June 2009
Kensington have now put in a further application to build up to 570 homes around Moss House Road. The application number is 09/0740 and details of the application can be found at the attached link:

The final date for objections is 22nd July 2009, so we all need to start now and get our letters and emails in. Do tell your friends and neighbours and get them to raise objections as well. Do remember – your letter or email MUST quote the application number.

I’ve booked a room at South Shore Tennis Club for Tuesday 23rd June at 6.15pm to discuss what else we can do, so do try and join us.

Perhaps now is the time to get the petition started. If everyone could think of ideas as to where they, individually, could collect names, eg work, their street, any organisations they belong to, and come armed with a list, that would really help.

Also, please bring along any thoughts that you have on the wording of the petition – it needs to be a positive statement along the lines of supporting inner regeneration rather than spending the town’s limited resources on the building of unsustainable developments on the edge of the town, rather than a negative statement.

As far as the appeal against their first application is concerned, I spoke to Gary Johnston earlier and they don’t have a date yet, but he would expect it to be in the autumn ie September or later. I’ll look into the details of how we can have our say, and let you know.

A read in this evening Gazette that Councillor Heap died yesterday following a fall in his home – very sad. This will obviously mean that a new councillor will have to be elected for our ward. If anyone hears anything about this, can you let us all know.
